Improvement in Neuroinflammation

Decrease in Neuroinflammation

Findings suggest that 1070-nm light pulsed at 10 Hz can reduce cerebral Aβ levels and thus improve memory and cognition abilities through activation of microglia and promotion of angiogenesis.  Read More

Neuroplacticity

Higher Cognitive Resilience & Synaptic Function

Transcranial photobiomodulation significantly improved cognition and increased serum BDNF levels in adults over 50, offering a potential therapeutic option for mild cognitive impairment.

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor, a protein that plays a crucial role in the growth, survival, and function of neurons, particularly in the brain, and is involved in learning, memory, and synaptic plasticity.  Explore the study.

The Science Behind Photobiomodulation

Pulsed waveform illustrating Neuronic LIGHT helmet neurotherapy pulses.
STEP 1
1070 nm light penetrates deep into the skull
Imagine our cells as tiny factories powered by energy generators called mitochondria. When specific light wavelengths, like 1070 nm near-infrared light, shine on our tissues, these mitochondria absorb the light, especially through a component called cytochrome c oxidase (CCO). This absorption acts as a jump-start, boosting the mitochondria's energy production.
Energy-producing mitochondria targeted by photobiomodulation therapy with Neuronic LIGHT helmet.
STEP 2
Activation of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase
With the light's energy, CCO ramps up its activity, much like a turbocharger in an engine. This leads to increased production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the cell's main fuel. More ATP means our cells can perform their functions more efficiently, aiding in repair and growth.

STEP 3
Modulation of
inflammatory response
The surge in ATP energizes the cells and triggers the release of helpful substances, including anti-inflammatory agents and growth factors. These substances work together to reduce swelling, alleviate pain, and promote tissue repair, much like how a well-coordinated team addresses and fixes issues.

STEP 4
Enhancement of
cognitive function
Imagine our cells as tiny factories powered by energy generators called mitochondria. When specific light wavelengths, like 1070 nm near-infrared light, shine on our tissues, these mitochondria absorb the light, especially through a component called cytochrome c oxidase (CCO). This absorption acts as a jump-start, boosting the mitochondria's energy production.
